Chris Birdy — Mystery/Crime Writer on the Rise

61-Fa9Ax0PL._UX250_  CHRIS BIRDY

In only a few years, Chris Birdy has written a trio of acclaimed novels called the Pajamas Trio. All three books are murder mysteries, tightly-written, and feature characters you’ll never forget!!!   Here’s her bio from Amazon ~~~~~

For almost twenty-five years, I did investigative work for small law firms conducting business in rough housing projects and crack house neighborhoods. I met with clients in every jail in the area even the now defunct Charles Street Jail and Deer Island House of Corrections. On good days, I got to take the .25 caliber handgun out of my pocket and the 9mm out of my purse and go to court. Then the real show began!
Several years ago, while sitting in a courtroom with a client, I watched as a police officer was lambasted by an attorney. The attorney was defending a young woman who crashed her car into two other vehicles before she passed out drunk behind the wheel. The occupants of the other cars were seriously hurt and the cop, a former EMT, tried to assist the injured while waiting for ambulances to arrive. The attorney questioned the cop’s every move, shredded his testimony and made him seem inept.
Embarrassed, the cop returned to his seat beside me and muttered, “Everybody lies. The judges lie, the lawyers lie, the witnesses lie..” I wanted to tell him not to worry that in about five years he’d be just as good a liar as they were.
The seeds for The Girl in White Pajamas (the first book in the series) were planted in that courtroom.

Chris’ upcoming Facebook event — The Danger-Filled Pajama Party happens on February 26th. Follow the link below and plan to have some dangerous fun there!!

Now, Check out my Interview with this Talented author ~~~~

How long have you been writing, and what was your impetus to do so?

Chris — I’ve always written in one form or another. Easily bored, I drew pictures or wrote letters to imaginary friends when I was a child.

What are you working on presently?

Chris — The Shameless Bastard has just started in the editing stage. It’s a suspense story that starts in Iran in 1969 and follows the principals to the present day. As the story progresses, the violence increases. It will take months before it’s ready for prime time. I’m writing the follow-up book to that one and a non-fiction book.

What Literary genre would you have a difficult time writing in and why?

Chris — I don’t believe I could write “meaningful literature.” When I read, I want to be entertained. When I write, I want to be entertaining. As an avid reader I can attest to the fact that most of the literature I read was flat and the only meaning it held was one inserted into the story by the reader.

Have you ever had a reason to think on committing the ‘perfect’ murder?

Chris — I couldn’t commit the perfect crime but would attempt to write about it. To do such a thing would take a great deal of planning and plotting. If I hated someone so much that murder was an option, I’d probably shoot them and take my chances with a good lawyer. I’m impulsive.

With the exception of Bogie and Amanda from your awesome murder/mystery series, what secondary character is your favorite and why?

Chris — I have a character named Coco Chanel. She’s a transgender investigator and a fun person. Her fashion sense is awesome. Coco is an ex-Marine sniper who works for R&B Investigations. Her role increases in each book.

What do you value the most from your fans and readers?

Chris — I value the fans and readers who like my work so much they tell others to read my books. In the end that’s what it’s all about.

What do you like the most about writing a novel — the thought processes involved in beginning it, typing ‘The End’ on the manuscript, or the journey itself?

Chris — I enjoy the thought process the most. Since I live in my own head, it’s easy for me to imagine my characters in various situations. Whenever I type “The End” I cry. I feel like my friends are going away and leaving me behind. There must be mental institutions filled with like-minded people.

If someone gave you $50,000 to never read or write books again, would you do it?

Chris — $50,000 would hardly compensate me for my life. Reading and writing are my life, my raison de vivre. Reading is my entertainment and writing is the way I express myself. I couldn’t live without them so any amount of money would be meaningless.

Now, Let’s Check Out Her Three Novels ~~~~~~

Chris Birdy 3pack

SYNOPSIS — Bogie McGruder returns to Boston after his brother, a cop, is gunned down on the street. Since the Boston police are investigating the death of one of their own, Bogie believes his trip will be a short condolence visit and a chance to meet his secret love child.
Although Bogie wants to contact his ex-lover, Bailey Hampfield, he’s reluctant to do so since Bailey dumped him four years earlier. Knowing that Bailey had his child after she cut him loose, Bogie thinks it’s time to establish a relationship with the three year old daughter he’s never met. While he considers his options, Bailey gets in touch with him and asks for protection. Someone is trying to kill her.
Bogie doesn’t want to get involved in the BPD investigation into his brother’s death, but he continues to be drawn into it while trying to discover who is attempting to kill Bailey Hampfield. The investigations seem to parallel each other, then intersect and become intertwined. As the story develops, Isabella, a precocious child obsessed with martial arts, slowly becomes the focus.
The underlying theme of this fast-paced mystery is lies. Everyone seems to be running on lies and half truths. The only true character is The Girl in White Pajamas.

REVIEW —Murder, Deceit, and a Red-Headed Stepchild of Sorts. on May 16, 2014 Format: Kindle Edition

A Review of Chris Birdy’s – The Girl in White Pajamas.

When PI Bogie McGruder finds out his cop brother has been killed in the streets of Boston, he returns to the city he exiled himself from to privately investigate the crime. He also seizes the opportunity to connect with his 3-yr-old love child Isabella for the first time since learning of her birth.

The novel moves at a brisk pace, filled with seedy characters, diabolical villains, and not so friendly friends. Scenes of family dysfunction, dark secrets, and bitter revelations come to the forefront as this murder mystery reaches its compelling ending.

While it does have its flaws, The Girl in White Pajamas has its merits too. It’s a stylish, totally realistic novel that’s well worth your time and money. I give it Five Stars.

Bogie McGruder returns to Boston with his four- year-old daughter Isabella. He joins up with Rose Jones’ uncle Walter who is fresh for Lompoc Prison. Bogie and Walter strengthen their firewalls while they try to determine who is behind the invasion. As the R&B team hones in on the culprit, they uncover several murders and discover a plot to wipe out the financial institutions in Boston.
While Bogie is in Boston, his extended family in Palm Beach becomes enmeshed in a sex scandal that threatens to ruin lives and careers in the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.
Feeling like a wishbone about to snap, Bogie tries to handle problems in both cities while Isabella continues her quest for someone to teach her the Five-Point-Palm-Exploding-Heart technique as seen in Kill Bill Volume 2.
This tale of murder, revenge and greed takes the reader on a whirlwind trip from Boston to Palm Beach and back. Buckle your seat belt!

REVIEW — 5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than The First! By Becca Wilson on October 13, 2014 Format: Kindle Edition

The Girl in White Pajamas was an absolutely amazing book. I just knew that I would love the second installment in the series and I was right. The second book could be read alone if you chose to read it if you already have it, but I would recommend picking up The Girl in White Pajamas first. Characters are easier to put together if you have read the first book and you won’t have to think so hard about what’s going on in the story line. The book starts off a little off because there is so much background to go over and get into your head about the characters, but once that is finished the book flies!

I honestly love reading mysteries, but I will be honest that I don’t like writing the review because I feel like I am going to give something away that someone might not want to know. I don’t want to give a synopsis of what happened in the book. I just want to simply state that there are lots of situations that the characters get themselves into that will keep you on your toes. There is all sorts of scandal and I love it! Isabella is snappy and sassy. She has to be my favorite character and the mysteries will keep you super engaged. This series did not let me down! I am crossing my fingers that there is a third book because I want it NOW.

SYNOPSIS — The Girl in Red Pajamas begins when two lesbians have a smack down in a Boston restaurant. After one is found dead stuffed in the back of the other’s SUV, their families line up and point fingers. Tensions mount as relatives question religious beliefs, and the police gather evidence to build a case against the survivor. Bogie McGruder becomes deeply involved in the investigation because one woman is his sister and the other, his old girlfriend. This third book in the Pajamas Trilogy brings the series to a glorious end.
REVIEW —THE GIRL IN RED PAJAMAS – READER’S CHOICE 5 STAR REVIEW  Reviewed by Tracy A. Fischer for Readers’ Favorite.
In The Girl in Red Pajamas, the third book in the Pajama Trilogy by author Chris Birdy, the reader is again pulled deeply into the lives of Bodie McGruder and his family, especially that of his enigmatic daughter, Isabella. Bodie’s sister, Ann, has been accused of the murder of Delores Peabody, Bodie’s old girlfriend. The whole family’s lives have been flipped upside down, and Bodie feels a responsibility to figure out what really
happened. He’s sure his sister isn’t guilty of murder. Throw in the antics of his highly unique and intelligent daughter, Isabella, and you have one very intriguing read.
I loved this book. Loved. It. I’m not sure what else to say, except that author Chris Birdy is definitely a writer to watch. Her ability to create interesting characters that the reader will continue to think about long after the book is finished is certainly a testament to her amazing writing skills. Once I started reading this book, I simply could not put it down until I got to the very last page. The Girl in Red Pajamas is exciting, suspenseful, and just an excellent mystery. It was awesome to find a mystery that I hadn’t figured out a quarter of the way through. This book would appeal to any reader who loves mysteries, thrillers, suspense, or
just a great read with great characters. I recommend The Girl in Red Pajamas, and I am so looking forward to seeing what author Chris Birdy has in store for her readers next!

Crystal Dawn — Dare To Meet An Author Who Writes About Dragon and Wolf Shifters

cde 2

Crystal Dawn’s Release Event of DARE ME — Love Me, Dare Me, Release Me / 2000 Likes Mega-Event — Starts at 4:00 PM Today on Facebook !!!  Don’t Miss It !!!

When she’s not out hunting rogue vampires and werewolves, you can find Crystal Dawn out exploring the galaxy. She can do it all without ever leaving her computer. She kicks ass, takes names, and puts it all down for the enjoyment of her readers. At least that’s what I think she told me. Writing came as a natural outlet for her overly creative mind. The start of her stories is the easy part. Finishing them is a little harder when all the stories are in there trying to get out. She loves reading, chocolate, fine sweet wine, and traveling among a large list of pursuits. Her favorite people, after her family and close friends, are her readers who she says are some of the most wonderful people in this galaxy and the next.

How long have you been writing, and how many books do you have to your credit?

I’ve been writing a little over three years. My first book, Planet Amazon, is an epic science fiction fantasy novel. I have a lot of books, over forty, but some are short stories and novellas.

If You could shift into an animal, which would it be?

I guess among the shifters, wolves are my first love. Dragons are a close second because they can fly. Some of the PNR shifter books have people that can shift into multiple animals. I don’t have those in any of my books yet but they sound pretty cool. You could run like a wolf, fly like a dragon, and sleep like a bear. 😀

What can you tell us about your upcoming release/s?

Judah will be coming out soon. He’s number three in the Strong Pack series. He’s come back from the military and he’s been brainwashed about werewolves being superior to all other races. He’s about to get an attitude adjustment when he meets his fated mate and she’s human.

The sixth book in The Mating Games series will also be out probably in March. It’s a science fiction fantasy with aliens who have made a deal with Earth to get mates. However, Earth has changed a lot and women want to get away from here.

I’m also working on an epic novel for the Frozen Origin series. It will be a standalone and will explain how it all began.

There are other projects because like most authors I have a dozen or more WIPs (works in progress). Those are the priorities though.

Who’s been your mentor as a writer? Give them a shout-out.

There have been several who have given me tips and suggestions. Michelle Fox has been an enormous help. She’s a sweetheart. Right now I’ve been working with Gina Kincade on some box-sets and I’ve learned a lot from her. She is very patient (thankfully) and a pleasure to work with.

Is there a literary genre you would never write in?

No. I’ve considered trying some of the others. So far I’ve only done romance (Sci-fi and paranormal). I know you write horror and I’ve considered something post apocalypse with some dreaded creature to fight. I don’t know about zombies, but they are a distinct possibility. I go through phases on what I read and I’ve always enjoyed mystery and suspense so . . . who knows.

In your books, who’s your favorite character?

Of course I love all the heroes and heroines. They are like children and you shouldn’t have a favorite but the beginning characters in a series often are the strongest. That would be Andrea for Planet Amazon, Ariel for the white wolf books, all the series, but none of the characters really stand out in The Mating Games series by Catty Diva. They were purposely made more equal. The same with Corre Deepe’s but she only has the one book so far. That will change sometime this year.    (Catty Diva and Corre Deepe are two of Crystal’s nom de plumes.)

Dare Me

SYNOPSIS — Will, Dare, and Nicky have been dancing around their fated mating for about year. They are chasing Chief, the number one wanted vampire in the world so it makes it difficult to pursue a relationship too. Dare and Nicky are tired of waiting and they ache for their mate. Will is concerned about bossy alpha behavior and what it would mean to be mated to two of them. Dare is a little reluctant to mate Nicky so only Nicky is ready to jump both his mates. How can this ever work out with all the delays and concerns?

Cousins of the Moon 1

SYNOPSIS — Simon, a vampire, has been protecting Roc, an unchanged white wolf, from rogue groups of wolves. When Roc’s Aunt Daisy dies, they must go to the funeral. Now they are aware that rogues and wolves aren’t the only danger they face. The funeral brings attention to them and Roc has secrets Simon wants her to hide. If they can outwit and outfight their enemies, they just might have a chance to claim the love they should have had when they first met. One wrong move and Roc could be claimed by another or Simon could die. Is it true that love will conquer all or will love lost bring them eternal misery?

Catty Diva -- Maxar Mating Games Series 4

MAXAR (The Mating Game Series #4) <Under Catty Diva>

SYNOPSIS — Maxar has found the mate he wants but can he claim her? The system in place for hunting mates may not allow him to pursue her. If that’s not enough, there is some sabotage in their factory and she is a suspect. He knows she’s innocent but will he be able to convince the others?
Note: For mature readers only because of graphic and super hot sex!

Captain of the Guard -- Winged Beasts Series #1

SYNOPSIS — Romo is sent to Earth for a successful mating since Earth is a potential source of female mates for their mostly male race. Things are very different than he expected there but he believes he has found his one and he intends to woo her to his side.
Bree is looking for her cousin Davy who disappeared at this very casino she’s visiting. Sure, they all say she’s in a isolated country, married and happy but how gullible does everyone think she is? It’s a sweet dream but she doesn’t believe it for a moment.
Neither do the bad guys searching for Davy and they plan to attack their family to get Davy back. Romo will not allow Bree to be harmed but can he really prevent it?

SYNOPSIS — Six women and six men, the recipe for romance right? Not when the six women are white wolves and the six men are werewolves. Clinging to their humanity, they reject their would be mates refusing to have anything to do with them. Could it be that easy? Not when you are dealing with six alpha wolves. They band together plotting and planning their soon to be mates’ downfalls one couple at a time. The first to be tested would be Lucas and Sue Ellen. All the males wondered, could this crazy plan really yield result?
