Today’s Featured Writer is Serena Akeroyd !!!
Serena Akeroyd is a romanceaholic. She won’t touch a book unless she knows there’s a happy ever after at the end of it. Pathetic as it may be, because of this addiction, Serena decided to craft her own tales, stories that suit her voracious need for sexy romance. After all, a love story ain’t a lurve story without a bit of naughty!
A citizen of the world, Serena is a nomad at heart, and her novels enable her to travel the globe and all behind her computer desk. Naturally, she’d prefer the option of a private jet, but still, if wishes were horses, eh?
Always feel free to connect with Serena, she’d love to chat with her readers, as well as fellow romance addicts!
THE Q & A
Which one of your fictional characters would you like to do the nasty with?
SA — Predominantly, I write MMF, so I usually have two heroes to do the nasty with. 😀 In The Angel’s Kiss, Dima and Niko are so incredibly lush, I think I’d have to have something seriously wrong with me not to want to screw their brains out! 😉 Plus, Niko is a Vampyre and Dima, a shapeshifter…can you imagine the hickies?! *drools*
What was your first Erotica book and what was the Toughest thing about writing it?
SA — My first erotica book was MONA. I wrote it in installments and I had this thing in my head that I wanted it to be sexy and hot, but different too. I wanted to focus on different aspects of a relationship. So, I wrote it in first person present tense. I really found it so easy to write like that, and I know a lot of people don’t like it, but still, that sense of connection between writer and reader just can’t be beaten. IMHO. 😉
It was tough because as a writer, you find yourself stuck in the middle. Wanting to please the reader but also wanting to stay true to the story…yet, without the reader, there’s no one to enjoy your toils of labor. Writing is one of those jobs where a happy medium is impossible to find. You’ll have one person who LOVES your work, and then another who finds no issue in slating it. Criticism isn’t always a chore, but it can and does hurt when it’s aimed at something you’ve dedicated so much time to.
Who’s your most exciting character and who would play them in the movie?
SA — Marina’s my most exciting character. She’s an award-winning sculptor who ran a high class brothel, which got her in trouble with the Russian mafia, who muddied the waters for her…in a big way. The book, MARINA, is her story. It’s the follow on to MONA. She’s a bitch, but I lurve her. 😀
A Great Erotica Novel Must Have what Three Things?
SA — Yes, it needs sex. But not just hot sex, it needs meaningful sex. Gratuitous sex scenes are boring, and so, they’re only decent sex scenes if they make a woman wet. Also, it needs characters who are life-like and realistic. Warts and all. And just because a book is about a couple having sex, doesn’t mean it also doesn’t need a storyline. In fact, to me, it needs it all the more to connect the sex scenes together.
Which are the most interesting characters in a book – Heroes/Heroines or Villains and why?
SA — For me, it’s the heroes and heroines. They can be bad people, but to me, if they’re the protagonists, then there’s usually some way to connect with them, and I like that. In fact, I try to twist my heroes/heroines. Make the baddies the goodies, at least, to the reader. 🙂
Give a shout-out to your most valued Fan, Helper, or Mentor and why?
SA — Without a doubt, the author Caitlyn O’Leary. She really helped me with the promotional side of writing. She rocks.
Who’s Your Favorite Porn Star and Why?
SA — Manuel Ferrara. Not sure why. *coughs* (ED NOTE — She Knows Why. 🙂
What Genre of Erotica are you most hesitant to write about and why?
SA — M/M. I write, predominantly, M/M/F books. So, it’s not that I’m anti-gay romance—the exact opposite, in fact!—but even though I have characters from M/M/F books crying out for a prequel, the story just isn’t flowing yet. I think I’m not ready as an author, so I’m not forcing it, and am just going to take my time going with the flow!
What is the least favorite word you’ve seen in Erotica and why?
SA — Ooooh, there are many. Usually to do with genital synonyms lol. Cookie, folds, wetness, moistness… the list goes on. Same with dudes. Iron bar, rods…
Who was your first erotica novel dedicated to and why?
SA — My Grandma. Without doubt. Total shout out to Phyllis up in heaven! 😉 And it’s dedicated to her because hell, I wouldn’t be who I am without her. She made me into the woman standing here today, and with my mum, the pair of them forged a chick unafraid to speak her mind but with the wits to use caution, arrogant enough to believe in herself but with enough humility to be a kind and fair person. Crap, I’m no angel, *coughs* Grandma would concur!! But still, I’m a decent bird 😀
Have you ever incorporated humor into a sex scene and, if not, would you be willing to try it? (Please no short answers)
SA — Ugh, I love humor in sex scenes, especially as a reader. I do try, but I’m not sure if it comes across because I do have a warped sense of humor. I’m British, and my humor is sarcastic and dry, especially I think to American readers. Let’s just say, I endeavor to make all my readers feel the entire spectrum of emotions…and if pissing themselves with laughter is that, then yeah, it’s on my to-do list! 😛
What couple gets your vote for having the sexiest love scene in a movie and why?
SA — TBH, I think it has to be Glenn Close and Michael Douglas in Fatal Attraction before she goes bunny-boiler on his ass. Well, aside from the weird splashing water on her boobs thing 😛
Where is one place you would never consider having sex at and why?
SA — A public venue with witnesses. Public…as long as it was kind of hidden, yeah, that’s kinda hot. But to have people watching? Nahuh!
On an average day you would most likely be wearing cotton panties, a thong, or going commando?
SA — Panties. But also girl shorts!
What medieval torture method would you love to use on a confirmed Facebook Troll?
SA — Ugh, no comment. Lol. TBH, I’ve been very fortunate, not had any Trolls. Well, no vitriolic ones. I was banned from FB in November, which sucked balls, but aside from that, and hopefully for the future, everything has been cool for me. 🙂
What Tame Literary Classic would you love to turn into a Hot Piece of Erotica?
SA — Pride and Prejudice. Phwoar! Mr Darcy talking about pussy and cocks…talk about a way to make my day! 😀
THE LUCK OF LOVE
With a covert deployment beckoning, Luke Gray is certain death is near. The sandbox has been kind to him in the past, but sure his luck has run out, Luke starts to pull away from his nearest and dearest–lovers, Josh and Gia.
As a brigadier general, Josh isn’t at home as much as he’d like, and living in an unusual relationship makes his baby girl ripe for bullying. Coming face to face with prejudice is nothing new, but having to deal with his sins being visited upon his daughter is another thing entirely.
Hiding the fact she’s a bestselling gay romance author from her lovers makes life a little unusual for Gia, but she’s living a dream–she’s the stuffing in a bisexual relationship between two of the strongest men she’s ever known.
When news of Luke’s deployment breaks, when the aftermath of her daughter’s bullying hits home, all Gia can do is regroup and protect the unorthodox family she’s helped to create. In this case, a glass slipper won’t work any magic, but a gold ring holds promises Luke desperately needs. Will a wedding save their small unit or will it be the tipping point?

THE ANGEL’S KISS
When Lyssa discovers her fiancé’s idea of à la carte dining is munching on Dima Vasin, his bodyguard, she’s more pissed off at the fact she has to share him than the life-altering discovery Vampyres and Lykaens truly exist. Niko and Dima have been seeking their mate ever since the war between their races came to an end two centuries ago. Now Lyssa’s in their arms, all they’re focused on is making her accept her role in their lives, and the honeymoon in Maui. But Fate has other plans.
The Fomor, an evil race of Celts, are at war with mankind. A war no one but the Gods, the Sidhe, and the malevolent creatures are even aware of! Banished to the depths of the oceans, the Fomor have sought their freedom for millennia. With every escapee from their icy prison, humanity is tarnished a little more, the evil in man’s nature exploited for the worse.
The sins of mankind and the destruction of the planet fall on the Fomor’s shoulders, and it’s up to the Gods’ foot soldiers, the Lykaens and Vampyres, to save Earth and its residents before crisis strikes. But the clock is ticking, and for Lyssa, Dima, and Niko, it might just be too little, too late…
