An Interview with Children’s Author – John Betts

Standard

Today’s Interview is with John A Betts, who ‘s released four books aimed at the little ones in your family. He resides in the United Kingdom and has always been capable of an excellent conversation when we’ve talked on Facebook. His bio on Smashwords is short and to the point~~~~

Enjoyment is writing fantasy fiction. Pleasure is spending time with my long suffering and wonderful wife.

So, lets get to the interview with John. Be sure to peruse his books and see if your childfren would be interested in his fanciful tales.

INTERVIEW

*

Hi John. Have a seat in my virtual office and get comfortable. Now, the first question I have for you is — Describe your latest novel to us?

*

Thanks, John. Nice place you’ve got here. Well, I’ve just finished writing book 2 of the Dragon Queen Series, Death of the Queen, I hope to publish in August. I actually started writing another book first but my Dragons made me turn this into book 3, so watch this space.

*

You live in the United Kingdom. What’s the best and worst part of living there, and do you have plans to visit the United States anytime soon?

*

That is a hard one, the best has to be Organic food, nice beaches, good neighbour’s. The worst, high tax on fuel (fuel duty + VAT) unleaded is around £1.30 per Litre (£5.85 gal) and the rain, did I mention the rain, but it is a great place to live

I am disabled and at the moment have not renewed my passport so no plans at this time to visit the US although I have some great friends in Florida.

*

What’s next in your literary career and when should it be available to the masses?

*

Publish “Death of the Queen” (August I hope) then finish Book 3 “Return of the Riders” (working title) I hope to have this ready to publish by November.

*

What’s the hardest thing about being an author and what do you do/use to get you through it?

*

Trying to fit in a normal life. When I write, I’m “in the zone.” The coffee is always hot and the ashtray seems to empty itself but that is really due to a wonderful wife that knows I am a complete nutcase 🙂 ice cream and chocolate also help.

*

What was the last Science-Fiction book / movie you read / saw and how would you rate it?

*

Raising Steam by Sir Terry Pratchett is a 5 star novel, but I am a big fan of Star Trek, Star wars, Stephen king and WA Goult. I must mention the Harry Potter series too, shame it finished, I wanted more.

*

Have you ever regretted killing off a character and why?

*

Having just killed off Aria the Golden Dragon Queen, I found this surprisingly emotional, but never fear another Golden Dragon Queen is on the horizon.

*

Do you have a fellow author who’s been like a mentor to you and, if so, tell us about them?

*

Tolstoy, Dickens, King, no mentor as such – just a love of books. My sister has now moved from non fiction to fiction and we do discuss our writing, but that is just fun not mentoring.

*

Thanks for a lovely interview, John. I wish you many successes in your life and writing.

Keep reading to discover his children’s books and personal links ~~~~
