INTERVIEW

*

*

Thanks for dropping by, Megan. First question —You seem to have a hand in all facets of Literary endeavors, except for writing. Do you have any plans for writing one in the near future.

*

I’m glad to be your guest, John. My first book, a memoir, will be released by Black Opal Books on August 2nd. I’m currently working on my second book, a crime fiction. I’m only about a couple of chapters in; the problem is that I can never find the time to write!

*

Your Blog Series – Authors Supporting Authors – and your blog reflects you passion about introducing new authors to the spotlight. Are there any writers you feel are good enough to become a bestselling author in the future?

*

You’re trying to put me on the spot with this question! I’ve interviewed over 100 authors and I’ve learned something from each and every one. I think anyone has the potential to be a bestselling author but not everyone has the talent or passion to write. I would rather buy a book from an author that I’ve interviewed or an author that I have met on social media than the latest reality star’s “bestselling” tell-all.

*

Tell us something personal about yourself – children, pets, a funny anecdote from your life?

*

This is going to sound really weird from someone who wrote a memoir but I never used to be such an open person. My writing has completely changed my life. I told myself that once I started a blog, I was going to be open and honest and if people didn’t like it, then so be it. I can’t even tell you how many e-mails I have received from people complimenting me on being open on topics that are rarely talked about. I’m not trying to brag or boast, I promise! It’s just that whenever I receive a compliment, it’s like a validation of my decision to be open.

*

On that note, What’s the hardest thing about balancing your family life, job, and literary activities?

*

This question is actually something I recently struggled with. I had to go out-of-town last week for a 3-day court mediation training. I was gone 4 days, which is the longest I have been away from my 3-year-old daughter, Madelyne. Even though I called home every night and talked with her, I still felt a little guilty about being away from her. On the other hand, however, it was nice to be around colleagues and not in “mommy” mode. I’m still trying to figure out how to balance the two. If anyone has some advice, please let me know!

*

I saw a post on your Facebook timeline where you detailed that weeks events – several blog interviews, a radio station interview, and several other activities. Are you super-organized or fly by the seat of your pants on any given day?

*

I am a total Type A Personality. I still use an old-school organizer/calendar. I am very organized, which can be a blessing and a curse. I just had surgery and it has been super hard this week to relax! Not good, I know.

*

You would never read a ____________ and why?

*

Hmmm….I don’t know if I can answer that question because I read almost every genre. Oh wait! I have always had this weird sort of “pride” thing when it comes to books. I always finish them, no matter what. There is only one book in my entire life I have never finished and that was “Last of the Mohicans.” LOVED the movies but the book was excrutiating.

*

If you were given a chance for a career change, which would you select – politics, the entertainment industry, CEO of Google, or running a large charitable organization?

*

I’ve changed my career three times already: I worked in the non-profit sector for 8 years, I’m now an attorney training to become a domestic relations court mediator and I’m an author. Please don’t make me change careers again!

*

*

Thanks for an entertaining chat, Megan. I wish the best to you and your family and never lose the joy in your personal life and career. Read on for an excerpt from her soon-to-be-released memoir and be sure to join/like her links!!!

WHO AM I ?

*

An Excerpt

*

Tyler was out of control—I had to stop him from taking my daughter…

Before I could even react, he snatched Madelyne out of my arms and put her in the back of his car. She started to hyperventilate.

“What are you doing?” I screamed.

Tyler ignored me as he tried to strap her in the car seat.

“Tyler! She’s terrified! You can’t do this! Let’s take her to a park or something. She has to calm down before she can go with you!” Was he crazy? How could he do this to his own child?

I squeezed in between him and the doorframe of the car door. “Tyler! Stop!”

“Don’t touch my fucking car!” Tyler screeched as he tried to slam the door shut. I had my leg in between the door and the frame so he couldn’t close the door.

I tried reaching Madelyne who was still wailing and howling. It was a horrific sound. All of a sudden, Tyler put me in a chokehold and dragged me from the car. I could see my dad out of the corner of my eye trying to get someone’s, anyone’s, attention.
